Teaching Notes
Indirect object = to whom or for whom the action is done. It always comes before the direct object when no preposition is used.
Vocabulary
Direct Object: Receives the verb's action.
Indirect Object: To whom or for whom the action is done.
Common Mistakes
- Swapping DO and IO
- Identifying the IO as a prepositional phrase (e.g. "to the students") — it must be the noun without a preposition
Extension Activities
- Write sentences with both objects.
- Identify objects in fairy tales.
- Create sentences about giving gifts.
Parent Tip
