Purpose: Sort items, check evidence, add auction prices, and subtract a cost. This is a fictional school story.

  1. Page 1: coats A and C; lunch bags B and E; bottles D and F. Color alone cannot tell B from E; their patches and found places differ.
  2. Page 2: claim 1 — red lunch bag + star patch = B; claim 2 — blue raincoat + yellow zipper = C; claim 3 — green bottle + moon sticker = D. Claims 4, 5, and 6 have no match: there is no circle patch, green zipper, or striped lid. A, E, and F remain unclaimed.
  3. Page 3: the sign should say where to bring found items and ask for two clues. Auction total: $24 + $13 + $8 = $45. Money left after buying bins: $45 − $15 = $30 for library books.
